We're happy to help you to secure a house or an apartment. We'll need to know whether you have your own furnishings or not. Rented rooms with Mexican families are for single students or couples without children.
Housing will normally be in the village the school is located in, Cacalotepec. Sometimes there are also rooms available in nearby Rio Grande (a ten-minute drive). If you desire to be in Puerto Escondido (30-40 minute drive from the school) then that can be arranged as well. Public transport is excellent, reliable, and inexpensive. Tell us about your needs and we will assist you in locating adequate housing.
Occasional ministry trips into coastal or mountain villages are "culture days", as well as visits to other cultural sites during your class session, since they count as an integral part of your learning. We share the costs of these trips among all who participate, often medical personnel and others. These costs are not covered in the regular tuition. A typical village trip of three to four days will cost around $35 US per person, which includes travel, food, and sleeping arrangements; the other trips considerably less. Plan to be a part of one village outreach and each session. They are wonderful experiences, and well worth doing!
Of course, the student is the main beneficiary, with both the academic depth and Christian encouragement that is part of the DNA of the Roca Blanca Spanish Language School! But it pleases us to report that all the profit, after salaries and operating expenses are paid, is donated to the Corban Clinic's medical ministry, and to the Roca Blanca base's ministry expenses. We couldn't be happier to be sewing into these worthy ministries operating among us!
